Health and Safety Induction

Course Overview:

Providing health and safety induction training to your employees is essential. It helps your business ensure that all employees meet the minimum requirements of safety knowledge that is required by the government.

Employees who are new to an organization or who are young people suffer more accidents and ill health than the rest of the working population. Induction training and orientation in the workplace are essential to protect employees. Failing to train employees in basic health and safety is an offense and may lead to prosecution, increased civil claims, poor employee relations, and poor performance in the organization. The Health and Safety Induction course we have developed provides an interactive experience for trainees to learn the basic elements of health, safety, and environment in the workplace, how they can be involved in risk assessments and what to look out for at work.

The course is ideally suited as part of an ‘Induction’ package and also as a starting point for employees to attend other specific courses.

In this training, participants will learn the basics of occupational health and safety, why it's very important to work safely, the benefits of working safely, legal requirements and compliance, and the foundation of the OH & S Management System.

The law requires all employees to receive adequate safety training, and our course is designed to help your business fulfill this legal requirement. It is suitable for anyone at any level, no matter what industry you work in, from employees to managers and full-time to part-time staff.

Note: This training course will help you learn more in-depth regarding regulatory compliance.

Why take this training?

According to the Health and Safety (HSE) Regulations,

“You are responsible for making sure that your employees receive immediate attention if they are taken ill or are injured at work. Accidents and illness can happen at any time and SAFETY can save lives and prevent minor injuries from becoming major ones.”

This means that, as an employer, you are responsible for ensuring your employees (and sometimes members of the public, if they are on your premises) receive appropriate Safety Induction Training.

Whilst this law is standard across all employers, regardless of how many people you employ or where you work, the precise level of health and safety provided will very much depend on the individual circumstances of your business

Also, according to the law, employees must be able to demonstrate that they have received instructions or supervision in the following ways:

  • training on-the-job

  • self-study

  • relevant prior experience

WE WILL HELP YOU. You will need to evidence of what you have done to ensure all staff has the appropriate skills and this will be requested by an environmental health officer when they visit your business.
