 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training Program

This 40-Hour HAZWOPER training program reviews the OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard for OSHA CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(i).

This program is designed for employees involved in clean-up operations; emergency response operations; corrective actions covered by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); and treatment, storage, and disposal facility (TSD) operations.

Learning Objectives

When you complete the 40-hour HAZWOPER program, you will be able to:

  • Establish an effective Site Control Program that limits the risk of exposure to employees working in the hazardous work zone.

  • Identify hazardous materials in your workplace and the possible methods, and symptoms of exposure as well as measures necessary to prevent exposure.

  • Implement procedures to treat workers in the event they are exposed to hazardous substances.

  • Familiarize yourself with compounds, mixtures, and materials that possess flammable, explosive, chemical, or radiological hazards.

  • Use Safety Datasheets (SDS) to identify and properly handle hazardous materials.

  • Know and understand your worker rights under the OSHA Act of 1970.

  • Use Site Characterization to identify hazards that exist in your workplace and implement measures to eliminate the identified hazards.

  • Recognize types of PPE and have a general understanding of how to select, use, clean, and maintain PPE that may be at your worksite.

Duration and Delivery

This training program takes 40-hour to be completed. 

Methods of Delivery:

  • In-House Training- Companies [ Upon request] 

Exam

Each student must spend the required minimum amount of time studying the course material. Students may take the exam once they have met the required training time for each specific course.

 

The exam is designed to test the student's understanding of the course material. Exams are composed of multiple-choice questions randomly selected from our extensive question bank. To complete the 40-hour HAZWOPER program, students must successfully complete each required course exam.

Exam Characteristics:
  • Students have two hours to complete each course exam.

  • The exam is open book. You can use your notes or the study guide to help answer questions as needed.

  • Each exam will consist of 20 questions.

  • You must achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass the exam.

  • If you do not pass the exam, you may retake the exam.

    • Students are only allowed to take an exam three (3) times within a 48-hour period.

    • After the third attempt, students must wait 48 hours before attempting the exam again. During this time, students should review the course material to improve their understanding.

  • If you pass the exam, you may not retake the exam to raise your score.
