Course Overview

 

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and hepatitis merit serious concern for workers occupationally exposed to blood, and other potentially infectious materials that contain such bloodborne pathogens as HIV and HBV. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to identify potentially infectious materials, identify types and methods of exposures, understand the health hazards of bloodborne pathogens, and understand his/her requirements under an Exposure Control Plan. 

Learning Objectives

Upon the completion of the course, participant will be able to:

  • Define bloodborne pathogens. 

  • Identify the bloodborne pathogens of primary concern.

  • List the ways bloodborne pathogens can enter a person’s body.

  • Describe the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand washing in reducing the risk of bloodborne pathogens transmission.

  • Identify work practices that help eliminate or reduce the risk of exposure.

  • Learn how to remove disposable gloves properly.

  • List procedures to follow if exposure occurs.

Assessment

  • 10 Multiple Choices Questions.

Certification

Upon a successful completion of the course, participants receive:

  • International Certificate in Bloodborne Pathogens from International Association of Safety Professionals, USA.

  • The presented course, materials, and workshop (if any) can be conducted in English or Arabic based on the participants’ desires.

  • Closing of registration is 2 days prior to the course date.

  • Course fees cover course registration, course materials and course certificate.
